Tyr Patch Notes: Ranked Windows & Ranger Update

Official Tyr patch notes covering the Weekend Ranked schedule, the level 20 tank entry requirement, Alpha Program tank restrictions, and Ranger graduating into the main roster.

Case Answer Verified Solution

The September 4, 2026 Tyr update opens two ranked queues for the weekend: Ranked Teams runs Saturday 9am PT to 12pm PT and requires a full squad of 8 players, while Ranked Solo / Duos runs from 12pm PT Saturday until 8pm PT Sunday. Entry requires at least two level 20 tanks, and Alpha Program tanks are banned from ranked play.

Patch Summary

Stoke Games published this Early Access update on September 4, 2026, and it covers two things ranked players care about: when the queues are actually open, and which vehicles are allowed in them. The note was later amended at the top with a change of plans on the shutdown timing.

The headline change is that ranked is not being turned off. Tyr launched into Early Access ahead of this update and drew a larger influx of players than the team anticipated, so the Ranked Solo / Duos window was expanded earlier than planned. The developers state they are leaving the Solo / Duos queues on for now in order to evaluate, with no shut-off time decided yet.

Weekend Ranked Schedule

Two ranked modes run across the weekend, and they do not overlap. Ranked Teams occupies the Saturday morning block, then Solo / Duos takes over from midday Saturday and runs through Sunday evening.

QueueWindow (PT)Party SizeNotes
Ranked TeamsSaturday 9am to 12pmFull squad of 8Shortest window, largest party requirement
Ranked Solo / DuosSaturday 12pm to Sunday 8pm1 to 2 playersExtended past the original plan

Because the windows are expressed in Pacific Time, players in Europe and Asia should convert before planning a session. The Saturday morning Teams block in particular falls outside prime time for most non-American regions.

Ranked Teams vs Ranked Solo / Duos

AttributeRanked TeamsRanked Solo / DuosWinnerDifference
AvailabilitySaturday 9am to 12pm PTSaturday 12pm to Sunday 8pm PT✅ Solo / DuosSolo / Duos runs roughly ten times longer
Party requirementFull squad of 8 players1 to 2 players⚠️ DependsTeams is the only option for coordinated 8-player groups
Scheduling flexibility❌ Single 3-hour block✅ Spans two days✅ Solo / DuosSolo / Duos absorbs the whole weekend
Access barrier✅ Same tank rules✅ Same tank rulesTieBoth require two level 20 tanks

If you already have a regular group of eight, Ranked Teams is the only queue that supports you, and the three-hour Saturday morning window is the price of admission. Everyone else is better served by Solo / Duos.

Ranked Entry Requirements

The gate into ranked play is vehicle level, not account level or match count. Three rules apply together:

  • You need at least two tanks at level 20. A single level 20 vehicle is not enough to queue.
  • Only level 20 tanks can play in Ranked. Anything below the cap is locked out of both queues.
  • No Alpha Program tanks are allowed. Vehicles still inside the Alpha Program are excluded from ranked entirely.

That last rule interacts directly with the Ranger graduation below. Ranger was an Alpha Program tank, which meant it could not be used in ranked before this update.

Ranger Graduates From the Alpha Program

Ranger is the newest Alpha Program graduate, and the first tank to graduate since Tyr moved to Early Access. The team marked the occasion with a dedicated trailer for the vehicle.

For players who joined during Early Access, the Alpha Program is the pipeline Stoke Games uses to put very in-development tanks into players’ hands and gather feedback while they are polished for the complete roster. Joining the program requires joining the official Discord for feedback.

Two practical consequences follow from a graduation:

  1. You will need to unlock the Alpha Graduate once it hits the main roster.
  2. Progression you have already made on the tank is retained, so time spent levelling Ranger during testing is not lost.

Ranger was already positioned as a forgiving all-rounder in our Tyr Tank Tier List, which makes it a reasonable first vehicle to bring up to the level 20 ranked threshold.

Early Access Launch Context

Tyr entered Early Access the week of this update, and apart from roughly 15 to 30 minutes of servers being overwhelmed at launch, the team reports things running smoothly. The larger-than-expected player influx is the stated reason the Solo / Duos window was widened rather than closed on schedule.

How We Verified This Patch

Every schedule, requirement, and restriction in this page is taken directly from the official Steam announcement published September 4, 2026 at 16:55 UTC, retrieved through the Steam News API. Where the developers amended their own post, the amendment is reflected in the summary above rather than silently merged into the original text.

We do not restate community figures or unverified timing as official, and this page will be updated when the team announces a firm Solo / Duos shut-off time.
